Summary: Bruceploitation @ Best: ACTION!
Comment: I had Super Gang to arrive in the mail on yesterday, I was anxious because of all the Bruceploitation flicks that I'd seen from early childhood, this one seemed to have been one of the few I'd missed. And looking at some of the earlier critiques, I was anxious(the only other Bruceploitation flick to get a 5 on CDnow was Chinese Connection 2 w/t Bruce Li...and it turned out to be a true classic). I already knew that the movie would be an attempt to cash in on Bruce Lee's legacy, and it WAS a classic, lots of action and lots of structure...but I didn't see any Bruce Lee footage blended in a la Game of Death style as described earlier, all we see is Bruce Le(the 2nd best Bruce Lee clone to Bruce Li in my opinion), who isn't even the star of the flick...and he gets knocked off before the end. LOL! This film would've gotten a 5 from me if they hadn't tried to pass it off as a Bruce Lee film(because it just so happened to feature a Bruce Lee clone in a supporting role), but it's a keeper, and Bruce Le isn't trying to dupe fans into thinking he's the real deal...he's being himself. Also, the movie is well put together, considering most of Bruce Le's flicks are without plot and look like they were shot in someone's back yard(ie Enter the Game of Death). SUPER GANG IS HOTTT! BUY THE MOVIE!

Summary: Despite the exploitation, a very good movie
Comment: After the death of Bruce Lee, movie producers saw a chance to make money by presenting unseen footage of the dead actor and using look-a-likes and doubles, producers hoped that the audience would think that it was Bruce Lee fighting on screen. Like many other "Bruce Lee" movies, "THE SUPER GANG" uses footage from other Bruce Lee movies with a redubbed sountrack when he speaks. This footage is intercut with a new movie that is shot after Bruce died. Because the whole film can't just be footage from other Lee films (the public would soon work out what was going on), the producers use a double for Bruce to appear in the new scenes. To hide his true identity, the double is only filmed from the side or back or from a distance so you can't clearly see who it is. Then when the Bruce Lee character speaks, a clip from another movie is shown. During fights, the camera may zoom in on Lee fighting, thus giving the chance to use a clip of Bruce Lee's face. If too many clips are shown, the audience may start to pick up on what's going on so in this movie, not too many shots of Lee are shown and the face of the double is often seen and anybody very familiar with Bruce Lee's face will see the trick. The real star of The Super Gang is an actor whose stage name is Bruce Le. He dosen't look a lot like Bruce Lee but he has a simalar haircut and knows how to fight like Lee on screen. The plot concerns Lee (or Le on most occasions) as a dojo instructor. The Lee character isn't actually shown that much during the film and he is kicked off a cliff near the end of the film. I did enjoy the movie. It mainly concerns two gangs arguing with each other. Lee spends most of his time roaming around searching for the murderer of his brother. He finds out that it's his boss who is the murderer and the two fight on a cliff. Lee is winning until the boss pulls out a machete and kills him. Lee goes off the cliff. Overall, it's got great fight scenes and a good plot which is rare in kung fu films.

Summary: GREAT ACTION SCENES!!!!
Comment: This is now my favorite film and I don't think I have ever enjoyed a film so much. The martial arts is superb and exciting. A spectacular scene features Allan (Bruce Lee) going to a Hot Dog stand by a road and asking a man if he killed his brother. The man tries to hit Allan who then beats the hell out of him and puts him through a wall. Allan then tries to ask the man who was behind the murder but a guy pulls up in a motor bike and shoots the man. The motor bike guy tries to get away but Allan gets on a motor bike and chases him. The story is basically two gangs fighting each other. Allan learns that his boss is the man who killed his brother and the two fight. Not suprisingly, Allan is winning until the boss slashes Allan's face with a machete and kicks him off a cliff. The boss then tries to do the same to Allan's friend, Kenneth but Kenneth ends up killing the boss. We then learn that it was a police man behind the murder and the film ends with Kenneth pulling up in his car, puting down the window and shooting the police man. This movie is dubbed from Chinese and has pretty bad sound and picture but don't let this stop you from enjoying this spectacular martial arts film.
