Comment: Received this dvd timely. This is now my new favorite movie. Excellent movie! Really enjoyed the special features such as edited and extended scenes. Great romantic screenplay, music devine. Good history lesson. Very colorful. May buy an extra one just like it.

Summary: Special Edition is anamorphic widescreen
Comment: The special edition is, in fact, anamorphic widescreen. I originally ordered a copy of this movie which was labeled as widescreen, but the DVD itself was full screen. I ordered another copy and it was indeed anamorphic widescreen.
I had to edit my original review--but I can't change the original rating! I give this movie 5 stars.

Summary: excellent film, a must see!
Comment: I love this movie! It is beautifully filmed and generally well-acted. The story portrays the cultural and philosophical differences and subsequent personal growth of the characters without being "preachy". It is easily as good as any Jane Austen remake and has better storylines and incredible scenery. The role of king is brilliantly portrayed by Chow Yun Fat and shows the deep and thoughtful wisdom of this leader. Great movie.
