If your enemy refuses to be humbled...destroy him!
With the help of his brother and trainer Kurt, American kickboxing champion Erick Sloane, arrives in Thailand to defeat the eastern warriors at their own sport. His opponent, a ruthless fighter and Thai champion Tong Po, not only defeats Eric, but brutally delivers a series of illegal blows which paralyze him for life. Crazed with anger, Kurt vows revenge - at any cost - but first he must learn the ancient techniques of kickboxing from Thai Master, Xian Chow. While suffering Xian's grueling and painful training, Kurt's only comfort is the company of his master's niece, Mylee. Hoping to disrupt Kurt's training, Tong Po abducts the innocent girl and viciously assaults her. Kurt, believing he is readyito meet Tong Po in the ring, challenges the champion who agrees on one condition: They must do battle in the ancient manner, with fists bound in rope and coverediin broken glass. Their battle to the finish, born of lust, power, and revenge, will leave only one man standing.

Customer Rating: Summary: A Bit Corny But Good Overall Comment: On the heels of Bloodsport and the weird sci-fi flick Cyborg came Kickboxer. Here, Jean Claude Van Damne plays Kurt Sloane, the manager and younger brother of kickboxing champion Eric Sloane (played by real-life fighter Dennis Alexio).
While fighting a Thai fighter named Tong Po, Eric gets injured and Kurt vows revenge on him. To this end, he meets a former fighter named Xian Chow and falls in love with his niece Miley.
While much of the film is corny/cheesy but there are some funny parts too. The most funny (to me) is when Xian gets Kurt (Van Damne) drunk in a bar, has him dance (which is one of the funniest things that I have ever seen) and then fight some guys in that bar! Its priceless!
Also, some of the training made me cringe, especially when he made him kick the tree with his injured shin! My friends thought when he did get the tree down and fell to the ground, that was the funniest thing! Even I chuckled a bit because basically he was trying to show Xian he wasn't weak! That's what "machismo" will get you!
Overall, not a bad film!
Customer Rating: Summary: Totally corney, but good martial arts Comment: Excellent martial arts movies a bit corney but my girlfriend loved van damme body. guess i got my work cut out for me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Kickboxer Comment: This has always been a favorite movie of mine. I was disappointed that I had picked a movie that was the wrong region. I put it in one DVD and it came up wrong region. Then I put it in another DVD player and beauty away it went. The picture quality was exellent. Like I said before one of my favourite Van Damme movies and there where no hic ups with the recording.
Thanks Amazon you came through for me again when I couldn't find it in the shops here in Australia.Kickboxer
Customer Rating: Summary: The 80's return Comment: So, everyone knows that if you have seen one Jean Claude Van Damme film you have seen them all. So if you must pick, get this one. From pathetic dancing to crazy training, it's good for more then just one laugh. Oh yeah and of course you have some very good montages featured throughout the film. I also recommend Bloodsport as an equal. Enjoy!
Customer Rating: Summary: The Kickboxer Comment: This is a well done martial arts flick.
Heaps of action scenes.
One of Jean Claude Van Dammes best along with Bloodsport.
These two films put Van Damme on the map.
If you are into all action martial arts flick .
This is for you.
