Customer Rating: Summary: Polly Shang Kwan and Dorian Tan team up to take on Lung Fei Comment: So this movie is basically just a very bad version of Joseph Kuo's 'Unbeaten 28'. Tis movie was probably made first but the sets look to be from the 20's. Polly Kwan looks great like always but Tan doesn't get to show off too much. Basically the story is that he finds out his dad turned to stone a long time ago and is a statue now. He learns from his stone dad and his stone friends and then goes to help Polly Kwan take on Lung Fei. This movie is truly about as bad as you can get. The only thing I enjoyed was watching one of my favorite females tear people up and Lung Fei uses one of the most laughable weapons ever in the finale.
Only 79 minutes long and it is all the better for it. Picture quality from Video Asia is not the worst but it is a pretty bad pan and scan job though you do get to see most of the action.
Customer Rating: Summary: General Stone - "You must be Kidding!" Comment: This is basically one of the silliest kung fu flicks I've ever seen, but not the worst! The worst to date is "Kung Fu and the Yoga Girl" (please read my review on that trash). The only reason I bought this one is that I was particularly interested in seeing it based upon the two leading characters (Tan Tao Liang & Polly Shan Kwan). Tan is one - if not "the best" kick fighters in kung fu. You must check out "The Leg Fighters" if you want to see this skilled artist in action. This flick did not do him any justice at all. If you see this one first, you may not want to get "The Leg Fighters", because you may think that you are just going to see more crap by this guy. But don't sleep too soon. Skip this one and by all means get "The Leg Fighters." Don't waste your time here. I also have kung fu flicks with Polly Shan Kwan in them and even though the plot was a bit cheezy, you can still tell she has raw talent and skill. Some of the scenes were a bit choppy. Too often while the characters were speaking, they weren't even in the shot. What amatuer was working the camera in this one! Half of their faces were chopped off many times and the side-to-side moving of the camera was driving me totally nuts.!
In this one you have stone statues (with the spirits of Tan's dead family members in them) talking, moving and falling on their enemies. Statues disappearing and reappearing. Stone statues teaching Tan kung fu skills. Hey, this one is a bit too far fetched for me. Now, we all know that kung fu flicks have some moves that are made to look real. I can live with that, but this one - and you will agree if you watch this one - is just a bit too much! The plot - ummm - what plot, is basically non-existent. The overdubs kind of suck!
If you can get this one for $.99 and you had a real bad day, by all means buy it. You'll have a GOOD LAUGH!!!!!!
