Customer Rating: Summary: One of the few kung fu movies where a woman dresses as a man, and it is actually believable! Comment: Now don't get me wrong, Polly Shang Kuan is pretty hot, but she actually manages to pull off looking like a man. Polly Kuan plays a young woman who's father is framed for stealing salt. Yep, the plot is about salt stealing. Yasuaki Kurata plays the leader of the thieves. The movie itself is kind of boring, so luckily the fights are good. Just don't expect a ton of fighting. And the choreography isn't great, but it's not bad at all for 1974. The biggest problem with this movie is the final fight. It's a bit on the short side, and it doesn't actually end. Very disappointing. So if you are a big Polly Kuan fan, then that is the only way I can recommend this movie. Kurata does good in his fights, but he only gets about 4 or 5 minutes of fight time.
And I can't finish the review without mentioning Kam Kong. He does a fantastic job, and gets a rare chance to show off his taekwondo skills in the final fight. And speaking of rare, this is one of the few movies where the deformed faced Dai Sai Aan gets to show off his full potential. I enjoyed the movie, but if you go into it with high expectations, you will be majorly disappointed.
2.5/5
