Customer Rating: Summary: An excellent introduction to tai chi Comment: After reading some of the more negative reviews I just want to point out that this DVD is not meant for you to build your tai chi vocabulary. Instead it's aim is to focus you on the basics of tai chi, breathing and learning the proper posture to relax yourself and open your meridians.
For those who may find it frustrating, I can understand what you mean. But you just have to stop worrying about doing it and go along with the video. After a few tries you will have picked it up no problem.
As for how I view the product, it does exactly what it sets out to do. It introduces you to the basic concepts of movement and provides for a greater foundation for tai chi later on. I started on this DVD and now am in advanced classes. My children now use this video (ages 3,4,6) and find it simple to use with mommy's guidance. Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: I like this one! Comment: My doctor recommended this video to me. I have fibromyalgia and the stretching you do with this video is really helpful.
Customer Rating: Summary: T'ai Chi Beginning Practice Comment: I enjoy the style, tone, and pace of this video. I do wish, however, that it were a "mirror" presentation in which the instructor moved his, for example, right arm when he was saying "left." I get myself all tangled up.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Good Intro Comment: I bought the T'ai Chi Beginning Practice and then bought the Daily Practice by the same guy. I enjoyed both. The instruction is pretty clear. I would recommend buying the Daily Pratice after having gone through the Beginning Practice. The daily builds on what was learned in the beginning practice.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Intro to T'ai Chi Comment: I only just bought this dvd the other day and this morning was the first time I used it. I recently injured my knee doing those fast-paced, hard-core aerobics type dvd workouts and my doctor told me that I basically have bad knees and will have to be careful to do workouts that aren't so high impact (I'm not old, bad knees run in the family). Hence, I decided to try this and I really enjoyed it. I felt a little self-conscious at first because I'm really not used to the slow paced and graceful movements (I'm rather klutzy) but I can't wait to do this dvd again! It is a bit difficult to keep up with at first, but I anticipate continuing to get better and better and I really enjoyed the instructor. I would definitely recommend this, but know that it's going to take some time before you get really great at it. Some people see that as a problem, but I like that because when I actually begin doing better I feel like I've accomplished more.
