The amiable sci-fi spoof The Ice Pirates has earned a small but vocal cadre of admirers thanks to its go-for-broke gags and a healthy disrespect for outer space epics like the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises. An atypically goofy Robert Urich stars as the leader of a band of space pirates who kidnap a princess (Mary Crosby of Dallas fame), and then join her quest to find a mythical planet that can solve the universe's water shortage. A completely game (shameless?) cast (which includes Anjelica Huston in fetching leather gear, Ron Perlman, John Matuszak, and fantastic film icon John Carradine) and Stewart (The Philadelphia Experiment) and Raffill's breezy direction help sell the funniest bits (most notably, the notorious "space herpy" scene, and the frantic time-warp finale) and make the more leaden jokes palatable. --Paul Gaita

Customer Rating: Summary: ice pirates Comment: This one is in the same vein as Spaceballs, totally 80's humor with a lot of Mel Brooksesque jokes throughout!
Customer Rating: Summary: Very funny Comment: A cast of characters. Everything from space herpes to a robot pimp...if you want to laugh at the sometimes very silly space and future humor, then this movie is for you.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Movie Comment: Ice Pirates is a movie full of campy goodness. It's a sci movie made in the eighties whose premise is that water is rare commodity and more valuable than gold. It is transported frozen hence ice pirates. The movie never takes itself to seriously and is fun to watch as long as your not expecting an oscar worthy story, effects, acting, etc...
At times it can be a little dated, especially when referencing racial stereotypes. Some people might recognize an early performance by football great John Matuzak and one of "Hellboy' star Ron Perlmans first appearances. Anyway, if you enjoy toilet humor and slap stick you should enjoy this movie.
Customer Rating: Summary: Review Ice Pirates Comment: Sci Fi B movie farce. What, you ask, is a space herpy? Watch and see.
Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect Comment: All I can say is if you love cheese, but otherwise a good story, watch this movie. Heck watch it the see that Ron Pearlman really was young once. Watch it if you want to laugh out loud instead of in your head.
