Customer Rating: Summary: Get the popcorn, it's Intermission Time... Comment: Low-budget, fuzzy images, funky clothing, "crappy" special-effects, boogy-down 70's music...what more could you want for under $13?
50 Drive-In "Classics" contained on 12 double-sided DVD's with mostly 4 movies per DVD.
Personally, I can't stand most of the current stuff from Hollywood; give me these cheese-classics anytime.
My personal favorites are The Guy From Harlem, Invasion of the Bee Girls, Katie's Passion, and Rattlers.
Lot's of choices, low-low price, and some personality...can't go wrong with this set.
Customer Rating: Summary: More good stuff from MCE Comment: This is another good collection of public domain flicks from Mill Creek entertainment. It has everything from horror, blacksploitation, and kung fu to monster movie classics, car chase pictures, comedies and a western or two. Not all are great, but enough are if you like B-Movies, to make the set worth the price. You've got directors rangin from Roger Corman to Dario Argento here. A good companion to this one would be Chilling Classics.
Customer Rating: Summary: Some Good Shiznat!!! Comment: I just wanted to throw in my two cents, and give this product a five star rating. I expected nothing but the worst from this product. And I have to agree with most of the reviews, good and bad.
The quality of these movies is not the best. And the biggest problem I have is the audio. Still it is not all that terrible, considering the age of most of these films.
For $13.00 I can say, "this compilation is great". I have watched 8 movies so far, and they are exactly what I expected. Total trash!!! Hehe. I expected more shock value (i.e. grinhouse, exploitation) types of movies. But for the price I can't complain.
Some of the movies on this collection are for sale at $15.00 a piece. And the ability to actually watch these movies (although edited?!!) is worth every penny. If they turn out to be somewhat decent, I might actually buy the remastered editions.
Bottom Line: Think of the movies you would find on 'up all night' with Rhonda Sheer, or 'Kung Fu Theatre'... or the legendary Elvira. That is what you're in for.
Customer Rating: Summary: Drive in Movie Classics Comment: I've found only a few of the movies that I actually liked. Some of the movies are of poor quality and really bad plots--I wouldn't recommend it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Banjo Music, Halloween Masks, And A Weekend Retreat... Comment: This is a yawn of a slasher movie, made in 1976, although it was stuck on the shelf for five years before being released. When you see it you'll know why. The film plays like an uneasy combination of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "The Phantom of the Opera", and "Pod People".
After a brief, tense, and needlessly melodramatic opening revealing conflict and parenting issues within a tedious group of people, the cast goes to a creepy old cabin for the weekend, where crazy Otis works as a boat caretaker. How do we know Otis is crazy? The heavy-handed direction and screenplay have one cast member mention to another that Otis has previously kidnapped and branded (yes, with a branding iron) a woman. But that's all in the past, and they have no reservations whatsoever about letting Otis stay on as the caretaker of their boat. It turns out that Otis is none too skilled at his craft, as they bring in an outsider to assist him, after which many bad things happen. Coincidence?
The film is mostly boring, although there is one fairly good plot twist which you can predict if you watch carefully: I was too bored to watch it all that carefully in part due to the tedious flute and banjo music. I give "Savage Weekend" two stars for throwing the curveball at the end.
As a side note, the movie is available as part of the "50 Movie Pack: Drive-In Movie Classics" collection, normally for less that you would pay for this single DVD.
