Customer Rating: Summary: Ngai Sing(Matrix 2 nd 3), Billy Chow(Fist of Legend), and Anthony Wong(Infernal Affairs) in a really bad low budget movie. Comment: Now the movie basically revolves around a monkey head statue that everybody wants. I wish I could explain how bad this is but it just makes no sense. It starts right off with some good action where a guy shows up to steal the statue. He does and then everybody wants it from him. They don't do a great job with the action and it is tough to see how sloppy some of it is where a guy will miss kicking a guys face by 3 feet and the the guy will go flying back 10 feet! Continuity is an issue in the storytellign also. Anthony wong looks like a sherrif or something and when you find out he's not he looks like the dumbest person ever. Billy Chow only gets 3 brief fights, Ngai Seng gets a bit more and looks really good, and an unknown actor by me gets probably the most screen time.
If you are like me and crave anything Billy Chow then let me save you the trouble and say that Bill Chow vs. Anthony Wong was as bad as you think it will be. The final fight with Ngai Sing starts out good but then is only like 2 minutes long. When making a movie with literally no money like this one you have to decide to focus on action OR storytelling and character developent. Unfortunately they gave a little money to both areas and both are majorly incomplete. The fights are not bad but are all a bit below average. Ngai Sing vs. a woman was actually my favorite fight of the movie.
Now I very very rarely do this but I have to deduct one star for picture quality. Tai Seng has SERIOUSLY been slacking in putting out quality releases but this one pushes me over the edge and I have to take action with my review and give this a 1. The picture is full screened and very faded. Horrible picture quality that would be acceptable if it were from 1976 or earlier. Unfortuantely this movie is from 2003 and was released in 2006. I am seriously about to put Tai Seng on the same level of Video Asia. I have sent them an email asking for them to please not become the new worst kung fu DVD company.
