From the director of the infamous German cult classic Nekromantik.Official selection Midnight Movie Madness at the Toronto Film Festival (1994)Lothar Schramm (Florian Koerner von Gustorf) is dying face down in a pool of his own blood. Behind his closed eyes fractured memories repeat themselves again and again. He runs by the sea. He lusts after the whore (Monika M) across the hall. He staggers through life uncertainly. He kills.Schramm is the story of the notorious Lipstick Killer Lothar Schramm s last days on earth. Revealed in a series of tightly constructed flashbacks the film offers an unflinching look into the mind of a serial killer. Uncompromising in its depictions of violence and perversion Schramm is a poetic masterpiece guaranteed to make you squirm.Special Features include: New 1.33:1 digital transfer mastered from producer Manfred Jelinski s original 16mm negative German language in stereo and mono with new removable English subtitles Full running audio commentary by director J rg Buttgereit and co-author Franz Rodenkirchen Second audio commentary by actors Florian Koerner von Gustorf and Monika M The Making of Schramm 35 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage Mein Papi and Captain Berlin early Buttgereit Super 8 shorts subtitled in English for the first time Die Neue Zeit a music clip from Mutter directed by J rg Buttgereit An extensive gallery of over 100 stills from the collection of J rg Buttgereit and Manfred Jelinski Theatrical trailers for Nekromantik Der Todesking Nekromantik 2 and Schramm Liner notes by J rg Buttgereit and Buttgereit biographer David Kerekes Optimal image quality: RSDL dual-layer edition Much much more!System Requirements:Run Time: 161 minutesFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre:Â HORROR Rating:Â NR UPC:Â 690816601098 Manufacturer No:Â BEDVD010

Customer Rating: Summary: INCOMPETENT Comment: What may have started out as an interesting premise...ends up as an uninteresting mess of a serial killer flick.
If only the filmmaker had spent more time developing his storyline and his characters, instead of trying to shock...it may have resulted in a better film.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fragments from a poisoned mind Comment: This film was an unexpected surprise! I expected another badly made exploitation flick, but was presented with a thought provoking study of a disintegrating mind. Horrific, human, convoluted and unforgettable.
Customer Rating: Summary: Garbage Comment: This movie sucks ....save your $$$.Unbelievable what some people think is good .This has nothing on Henry
Customer Rating: Summary: Decent story but VERY light on gore Comment: I am a huge horror movie fan. I decided to rent this movie based on all the reviews on Amazon warning people about the level of gore in this movie (that's my type of movie). I was extremely disappointed with the level of gore in this movie. This movie is EXTREMELY light on the gore and comparable with that terrible movie Hostel is terms of gore (which to any true horror movie fan is a joke of a movie). I'm assuming the same people that reviewed this movie and said it was very gory are the same people who said the eyeball scene in Hostel was one of the grossest scenes they've ever seen. Lucio Fulci has been doing eyeball gouging for 25 years and it doesn't even make me blink.
OK so on to the actual review. This movie has some very interesting psychological aspects to it that make it pretty good for a "horror" movie. It shows some of the aspects of the lifestyle of a serial killer. The movie is also filmed and written really well. It uses the Tarantino, Scorsese technique of showing the ending first and then going back in time to build up to the climax. This is all very well done. But for a movie about a serial killer this is quite light on gore. I would call this a good psychological / documentary style thriller. I would definitely not classify this as a horror movie since it gives people the wrong impression coming in.
If you think this movie is gory I would say you should rent Dead Alive and see the comparison. Dead Alive is without a doubt the goriest horror/comedy ever done and my personal favorite horror/comedy movie of all time. I was a Peter Jackson fan 15 years before he made the Lord Of The Rings because of his B movies (Dead Alive, Bad Taste, Meet The Feebles). There are body parts flying everywhere in that movie. In one scene severed body parts are several feet deep on the floor. This movie pales in comparison.
So to sum up I would say this movie is an interesting watch for the psychological aspects but if you're a horror fan don't come into this movie expecting extreme gore because it has been wrongfully labeled as such by the other reviews on Amazon.
I just noticed that someone tagged this movie as "Italian horror". This just backs up what I said that the people reviewing this have no idea what they are talking about. Jörg Buttgereit is a German director making this a German movie not Italian.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sick, Twisted, Stuff That Makes One Want To Wash Their Brain Out With Soap Comment: Well, I really thought that I had seen everything until viewing this film. It has much going for it in the area of lensing and camera work. The acting is well done. One might wonder how a short one hour film could be so disturbing, but there are images here that ring more real than "Faces of Death." Other reviewers have mentioned some spoilers, but I will only say that sometimes it seems that the cinematographer just happened upon some weird event that appeared in the film unplanned. We just happened by to catch this fellow blowing his brains out. Let's show the world. Looky! Looky!
I must admit that there were scenes in this film that were really difficult to watch. That has never happened to me except when I saw a film called "Death Scenes." There were images that made me want to wash my mind out with soap. Does anyone know what I mean? Just try eating a sandwich and watching this film at the same time, I do not believe it can be done. The real question is does anyone really want this kind of thing floating around in their brain? "Schramm" Rates as the goriest film that I have ever seen, and I do not believe I will watch it again.
Now, it is your turn. Do you want it in your brain floating around?
