Summary: Great Chinese historical movie!
Comment: I LOVE this movie! It's a tale of the last Han Dynasty (220 AD) where an overly ambitious Prime Minister was running the emperor's court. The movie has great script, directing, and acting, with beautiful costumes! John Woo also threw in a short lovemaking scene (sex always sell, right?), but it was not to the point where you have to cover your children's eyes. (You may cough a little!) The battle scenes were violent and bloody. (I wouldn't recommend this movie for the young children, but teenagers should be fine.) I, too, was very disappointed to see the "To be continued," sign at the end, not knowing that it was to be a two-part movie. I was all ready for the great naval battle that was about to take place! Great flick, nonetheless. I can't wait for the sequel! It just shows you that when a government is put in the wrong hands, people suffer. Some things just never change throughout history...

Summary: RED CLIFF - RED ALERT
Comment: This is an epic film. I picked up a legitimate subtitled copy in Singapore. Wow! John Woo has delivered. If you enjoy militarism / a love story / political intrigue / strategy and Chinese guile this movie has it all. Subtitles aside the way that the Chinese soldiers were trained in this struggle and the methodologies used make western military strategies of that time as we have seen them portrayed on film puny. Marvellous, stunning we just can't wait to see the second part when Tsao's navy is ready to strike. All classic Asian actors in stunning parts / scenary and story telling. I guess if you have read this far you'll see we loved this movie. Special !

Summary: Great movie. Horible picture and subtitle
Comment: This is a great movie with tremendous action/battle scenes and great story line. However, unless you have already read the Chinese epic historical novel ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS, the numerous characters and complex story line will overwhelm and confuse you. The title is also misleading, if you are familiar with the book and expect to see the great naval battle of Red Cliff where Tsao Tsao's fleet was burned, you will be disappointed. That did not happen in this movie. Supposedly that would happen in the sequel.
Now the bad point. This product appears to be a poorly duped copy. The wide screen is too small, and the subtitle is unreadable. I recommend that you wait for the proper original copy to be available commercially (i.e. available at Circuit City, Walmart, Best Buy...etc...). In the meanwhile read ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOM even in its abridged version, it will be time well spent. DO NOT buy this product.

Summary: MASTER PIECE!!
Comment: Regarding the first review: IS A TWO PARTS MOVIE! like Lord of the Ring or Kill Bill.... just in case you didn't notice. Do not pay attention to that person, obviously s/he didn't understand the part of the the movie that reads TO BE CONTINUE...
This is an extremely well done movie. Clearly a master piece from every perspective. Interesting all the way through even though it lasted 3+ hours. The actors were extremely good as well as the director. Absolutely one of the best movie I have ever watched. This movie contains a well developed plot plus action. Unlike many other war/action movies they have either just action or plain talking but this one is absolutely a mix of political strategies and war strategies.
Definitely watch it.

Comment: the person that complains about this movie is an idiot! the reason why it's only half a movie is because that is how the director as made it. the second part of the movie doens't come out until Janurary. and even then it's only in theater. don't listen to this stupid complainer, he/she doesn't know what they're talking about.
